June has been very busy in the ATD test facility with multiple orders being placed for impactors and Flex-PLI’s being sent out. This month I have spent a lot of time writing the Flex-PLI manual. Throughout the process I have learnt a great deal in terms of how to put together a user manual and had to overcome various challenges. For example there are a high number of requirements to include in the manual and I have needed to be in contact with various people such as packaging suppliers to ensure that when we transport the jig it meets the standards required.
Encocam has been heavily featured in the press this month due to the company’s views on the EU referendum. Our Managing Director Mike Ashmead has been very passionate with his opinion to remain a member of the EU to secure the best future growth for the company and so various reporters have visited our Huntingdon site to conduct interviews. Some of this filming was conducted in the ATD test facility and one of my tasks was to prepare the Flex-PLI dynamic test at the facility.
Since being at the company, I have worked with people from various nationalities, for example just over the weekend I attended a party with 2 Polish and 10 Spanish co-workers. They have all helped me a great deal throughout my apprenticeship by passing on the skills they have learnt and allowing me to assist with projects they are leading. In my opinion, being part of the EU has ensured we are able to employ more skilled workers for the facility. Although my current work colleagues should not be affected, I hope others are not deterred or restricted from working in the UK as from my experience they are all extremely hardworking and have helped to fill a shortage of skilled workers needed in facilities such as ours.
This month we also had the Encocam Summer Party which marked the end of another great month here at Encocam. The party was held at a local village hall and a BBQ as well as lots of games for all the family were provided. This was a great opportunity to bond with my fellow work colleagues and I think everyone will agree the event was a great success. I look forward to other social events like this as I continue my apprenticeship!
