Overview

Cellbond design, develop and manufacture passive safety testing products and equipment including deformable aluminium barriers (or crash test barriers), energy absorbers, crash test dummies and impactors. Cellbond’s range of current crash test barriers includes the Advanced-2000 Side Impact Barrier, AE-MDB Side Impact Barrier, NHTSA Side and Rear Impact Barrier, IIHS Side Impact Barrier, NHTSA Oblique Barrier, Frontal Offset Barrier, MPDB for compatibility testing, and Full Width Deformable Barrier. Our customers include vehicle manufacturers, consumer organisations like Euro NCAP, Government Organisations, Test Facilities and Proving Grounds. Over the years Cellbond has demonstrated innovative thinking around our product initiatives and introduced new technologies in close collaboration with our customers.

Our extensive portfolio of products includes energy absorbers, deformable aluminium crash test barriers ,  deformable aluminium crash test barrier development,  deformable crash test barrier FE models, moving impact trolleyscrash test dummies, calibration core, knee ligaments, pedestrian head forms and legform impactors (Flex-PLI and aPLI) Services include testing and calibration, using our in-house facilities, and product design, research and development.

Cellbond’s approach to product innovation has seen our global footprint rapidly expand. We export over 92% of our products worldwide through an established and reliable logistics network, and are represented in 9 countries across 3 continents. Whilst we primarily operate within the automotive industry our continuous investment in technology, our ingenuity and our commitment to excellence in innovation allows us to seize on other diverse opportunities. Most recently we have undertaken bespoke projects within the renewable energy sector, enhancing our reputation as a company that invests in innovation with the ability to meet challenging customer requirements.

In April 2018, Cellbond celebrated 30 years of innovation with a 2-day Technical Conference which took place at our Huntingdon Headquarters.  We welcomed guests from across the globe – customers, suppliers and industry partners, and were delighted to hear talks from our guest speakers, Michiel van Ratingen, Secretary General Euro NCAP, Saeed Barbat, Exec Tech Lead for Safety, Ford Motor Compaby, David Zuby, Exec Vice President, IIHS, Contandinos Visvikis, Manager Child Safety, CYBEX, Steve Moss, Director ATD Systems, DTS, David Hynd, Head of Biomechanics and Injury Prevention Group, TRL, Thomas Kinsky, Senior Expert Product Relations Passive Safety, Opel Automobile, Atsuhiro Konosu, Manager and Senior Researcher at Japan Automobile Reseach Institute (JARI),  Cellbond’s Founder and Chairman, Mike Ashmead, and Cellbond ATD Business Development Manager, Paul Lemmen.

In May 2019, Cellbond’s Founder and Chairman, Dr Mike Ashmead, was recognized for his contribution to innovation and exports and was awarded the OBE  in HM the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

In 2022, Cellbond received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise: International Trade for the second time, and in 2023 we marked 35 years of engineering innovation with a 2-day Technical Conference focussed on the future of occupant protection globally.
