"Cellbond advertised the work placement position with a short job description through the University's Industrial Placement website.  I sent a copy of my CV to the company and received an invitation for an interview with the company's Engineering Manager. Having attended this, which included a tour of the company's main site, I was offered the job on the same day."

"There was a lot of information to take in on my first day at the company, particularly as I also had to move into the company house on the same day. The members of staff are very friendly and were willing to help with any enquiries I had."

"My first project involved creating a Continued Professional Development document and slide show for the Architectural Panels the company make. (A cellbond owned company trading as Mykon). This presentation and the accompanying notes were created for architects as part of their professional development, but have also been used to inform new members of staff about the panels. Leading on from this I have also been involved in the production of both samples for customers and the first few finished customer panels. I have also been responsible for working on the company's Kanban stock control method as part of the company's lean manufacturing philosophy."

"During my time with Cellbond, I have learnt about the production process for aluminium honeycomb, as well as gaining an insight into the products the company use this material for. I have also been able to apply and adapt some of the material covered at university to help me, for example with the bending calculations for the architectural panels the company produce. In addition to these I have also learnt a lot about working in a real world environment."

"Having a year in industry on your CV is very valuable. In addition to this, if you are not sure which particular part of engineering you want a career in, work experience may give you an insight into a field you may not have considered before."
