Energy Absorbers
Cellbond has been involved in energy absorption and vehicle safety testing since 1988. Our extensive expertise gained in the field of crash test barriers and safety testing complements our development of energy absorption solutions. We are specialists at solving absorption challenges through our own research and in collaboration with major manufacturers and test houses. Our engineers are constantly developing and testing new energy absorbers to meet the latest legislation and the individual energy absorption requirements of our customers. With manufacturers under increased pressure to produce vehicles with additional safety features whilst trying to keep weight to a minimum, we are continually striving to produce energy absorbers that are both lighter and safer incorporating more intelligent technology.
Cellbond energy absorbers are developed for many applications including side impact protection, pedestrian friendly bumpers and bonnets, and occupant protecting applications such as roof linings, pillar or knee applications.
Our range
Existing energy absorbers include but are not limited to foams (PP, PU or even aluminium), plastic ribs, thin wall crush tubes and honeycomb, which is an interesting but not always cost effective alternative. We currently produce three types of energy absorbers; foam based ones (as traditionally used by automotive manufacturers), those utilising honeycomb technology (as used in the development of our crash safety barriers), and those using our own unique PressLoad technology. We customise our range of energy absorbers to produce specific solutions for our customers' individual requirements.
